How to write a test or examination

Paper on unseen material
  1. Skim the whole paper
  2. Read the questions
  3. Plan the time for the marks ie; 60 minutes for 60 marks = 1 mark/1 minute
  4. Do the questions you know first, but keep them in order ie leave place for the left out questions.
  5. One sentence or one point must = one mark. Put each point you make on a new line or make it a new bullet.
  6. In an essay each sentence is one clear point.
  7. Check your work for:
    1. Answered all the questions?
    2. Grammar and spelling
    3. If unsure about an answer go with your first feeling.
Comprehension
  1. Read the questions
  2. Plan the time for the marks ie 60 minutes for 60 marks = 1 mark/1 minute
  3. Read the passage
  4. Read the questions again making notes about where in the passage the answer is.
  5. Do the questions you can first, but in order ie; leave place for the others.
  6. Later questions often give clues to early ones.
  7. Check your work.
